The jewel in the Yucatán crown, Chichen Itza is filled with ancient Mayan ruins, temples and pyramids. This exclusive tour has an early morning start so you arrive at this UNESCO-listed archaeological site before the crowds do. You will also visit a cenote and a traditional Mayan village. Benito, one of our local guides, says: 'What you hear is as impressive as what you see in Chichen Itza. For example, El Caracol was an observatory used by Mayan astronomers. You will find out all about their precise calendars which mapped everything from fertility to harvest.'
Chichen Itza has been clawed back from the jungle by archaeologists and is a sight to behold. Its name means Mouth of the Water Wizards' Well, inspired by its sacred cenotes. Everywhere you will see representations of Kukulkan, the feathered serpent who was the supreme Mayan god. The pyramid dedicated to him dominates the complex. Benito says: 'Kukulkan Temple has four staircases with 91 steps plus the single step at the top makes 365. The ancient Maya calculated everything.'
You'll also see the Warriors and Jaguar Temples as your guide fills you in on Mayan history, culture and legends. There are artisans making crafts on site, so every purchase helps the local community. Plus, you'll uncover the secrets of Xibalba—the Mayan god of the underworld—while diving into a freshwater cenote. After a traditional lunch, it's time to get to know the locals with a visit to the village of Yalcoba.

Sian Ka'an 4x4 tour with reef snorkeling and breakfast at Punta Allen
Getting a closer look at Mexico's flora and fauna is the goal of this action-packed tour. Add to that exotic seascapes and pristine mangroves, and you have an irresistible excursion. As you sail through the Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve, your guide will open your eyes to the incredible biodiversity that surrounds you. Manon, one of our expert local guides, says: "I never get bored in Sian Ka'an. You never know what kind of creatures you will encounter. About 400 species of fish and 330 species of birds live here. Everything we see , we approach with care, we always respect the fauna and flora."Sometimes nature is so spectacular that it is worth making a little extra effort to see it with your own eyes. We've split the long journey to this remote UNESCO World Heritage Site so you'll spend less time traveling by 4x4 and more time exploring by boat. You'll see an array of birdlife and countless colorful fish, and you'll be hard-pressed not to spot wild dolphins and turtles. Manatees and crocodiles also make an occasional appearance. Then it's time to put on your snorkel gear and immerse yourself in the clear waters of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. The part of the reef located in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve is built by 80 species of coral and is one of the healthiest in Mexico. You will then head to the calm waters of La Piscina for a swim before returning to shore for a locally sourced lunch at a family-run restaurant overlooking the sea. You have free time to enjoy the dazzling colors of the Caribbean at Punta Allen before returning by boat and 4x4.
